Kitchen makeover

Before….

The before status wasn’t horrible….for one, it just wasn’t me. I’m not a fan of light oak. It did’t mesh with me or our other furniture.  Second,  there was actually a lot of wear and tear on them. Look closer…

Ugh!! It was so hard to look at. I needed to have a ktichen that didn’t give me a headache.  I actually just mentioned it to the hubby as one day we should….and maybe we could start small and do the bathroom 1st.  Surprisingly, he said,”No. We’ll do the kitchen. It’ll be fine.” I bet he regretted those words as soon as he said them! LOL

Off to Lowes we went.  I wanted dark, he wanted white. He won.  He sanded, primed and painted. Two weeks of a chaotic kitchen, but it’s all back together now, refinished, and pretty!  We chose an off white for the cabinets. After needing to touch up the walls, and realizing we didn’t have the orginal paint anymore…we gave up trying to match it, and went with a darker wall color. I love the wall color change! We went with Moose Mouse.  The microwave never matched the other appliances, had a crack in the door, and was a nasty greasy gross contraption! Plus, the fan would literally fall off all the time and cause nasty words to spill out of my mouth….So it didn’t take much convincing to get a new microwave.

Costs:

Paint, supplies, primer, sand paper: $100

Hinges: $68

Microwave: $175                     TOTAL: $343

Well….we weren’t planning on spending that much, but it beats buying new cabinets any day!

Next on shopping list: New black countertops! <—-I’m SOO excited about new countertops. It’ll be SOO PRETTY! …oneday, hopefully in a year.

Behold, the finish product of two hard weekends!!!

Imagine how pretty it’ll be with black granite/granite looking countertops!!

Keep calm and carol on

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas!

Tis the season for grinches glore! I can’t believe how many  rude Christmas shoppers there are out and about this time of year.  Talk about shopping cart road rage! This year, I’ve done pretty well avoiding most of the rage and skipped black friday shopping.  I absolutly LOVE Christmas, and dispise how much people forget all the fun and magic of this time of year and focus too much on the commercialism of Christmas.    Cure =  Christmas music, Christmas movies (ELF,the org. Mircle on 34th st, Santa Claus) hot chocolate, sugar cookies and peppermints. LOL, if only it was that easy!   Here’s some more cure’s compliments of the movie  ELF to keep the scroge and grinch inside you away :)

#1. Treat everyday like its Christmas  # 2. There’s room for everyone on the nice list  #3. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

 Hi all!!

We’re are moved and ….almost unpacked! How exciting is buying your first HOME!  After years of renting and dealing with crazy landlords, it feels GREAT to be in a place of our own.  Nick and I took a trip down memory lane and realized that the 7 years we’ve been together we’ve lived in 6 different places! It took 6 moves to get here!!   Thanks to any family members who helped us move at any of those time :D

Well, we’ve busy with painting, cleaning and landscaping on most weekends, but look forward to some summer bbqs and sunny days to enjoy in the backyard.  Jakcy, our Siberian husky has adjusted to the move like a princess! She loves her patio and backyard.

Besides our new purchase not much else is new in our lives. Nick’s still at his job selling people copiers and printers and helping people save time and money at work while Cindy-me :) - is working in Ashland saving smiles by cleaning teeth.

What a summer!  In August Nick and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary <3 We spent the weekend at the Oregon Coast around the Newport area. It was beautiful!  We also recently had to say goodbye to our old Jeep Cherokee:( Out with the old and in with the new though! We bought a new car, a 09 chevy cobalt.  Anyways, life in Medford is treating us well. I LOVE LOVE my job in Ashland as a Hygienist working 3 days a week and Nick is still selling those copiers and printers and enjoying his job as well.    Now with September upon us, I am ready as ever for fall! I am so ready to be done with hot August nights! Bring on the cool breezes, apple cider and pumpkin spice!  :)   The only thing am not ready for this fall is having to start paying back student loans….blah!  Dontcha just wish college could be free!!
